MAY Cares

Giving back to our local community is a mission that MAY Management Services Inc. takes seriously both as a humanitarian mission to help our neighbors but also with a grander vision to strengthen our community from within.

MAY Management has been active with a number of local charities and organizations for many years including:

Ø       The Salvation Army

Ø       The Children’s Home Society of Florida

Ø       The American Red Cross

Ø       Kinder Vision

Ø       Northeast Florida Community Hospice

Ø       Autism Speaks of Florida

Ø       Local churches

Ø       Local schools

As an example of this passion, in December 2008 the employees of MAY Management Services, Inc. agreed as a group to forgo their traditional company holiday celebration in exchange for donating an equivalent financial commitment to several local charities to be sure the children in our community were remembered with gifts during the holiday season in these difficult economic times.

These commitments, both the charitable activities of MAY Management as a company as well as the personal commitments that our employees are privately passionate about brings together a strong belief that by giving and growing as a community we all achieve a better today and a stronger tomorrow for us all.

To see what our employees are doing to help our communities please visit any of the links below:

Cathy Savarese, Account Manager volunteers at the St. Johns Council on Aging accounting for donations to their River House building project and generates monthly progress reports. Gail Harris, Benefit Administrator and Webmaster and her daughter Kara volunteer at the Humane Society Mountain Shelter every Sunday morning doing Animal Care for the Cat Rooms along with fundraiser activities.

Ken Bond, Maintenance Technician has been spiriting a You Tube link to provide information on his particular type of cancer and treatment.  In doing so has helped train, teach and communicate with hundreds of people.  You can visit Ken's site at www.youtube.com/nek1555 Deborah Alley, Community Association Manager and Dottie Alley, Administrative Assistant have been volunteering and organizing functions for local Hospice Services in honor of her sister, Donita Quarto.

Rich Curran-Kelley, Regional Manager has been volunteering for the St. Johns Community School of the Performing Arts by helping with set design, construction, theatrical support and chaperone duties. Judy Roberson, Decal Department has been volunteering with the VFW on the Wounded Warrior Project by helping do fundraising for the program.

Dottie Kriner, Community Association Manager has been volunteering for the Junior Achievement program by educating our children on how to be responsible adults with realty training on voting, writing checks, paying bills, ATM, credit cards, etc. All the employees of MAY Management Services participated in the Diaper Drive and collected over 8,000 diapers and 61 boxes of baby wipes to donate to the Children's Home Society for our families in need.

7/15-8/15 will be the last month for the Diaper Drive. For our final month, Regions Bank has agreed to match our collection!  So we can double our donation for the month!!  In exchange, Regions has asked for our support with their Sunday Undies drive to collect new underwear for children who are in need them.  The details will be announced later.  But for now, let’s show Healthy Families program and Regions who is the biggest giver!

MMS has been invited to partner with JCP Cares (www.jcpcares.org).  This organization has been in existence for about 2 years.  Their mission is to raise funds and support awareness for charitable organizations throughout St. Johns County, not just Julington Creek Plantation.  Each quarter JCP Cares focuses on a specific target area such as

1)     Animals and Environment

2)      Homelessness and Abuse

3)      Seniors and Medical

4)      Children

So far, the non-profit organization boasts the support of 50 volunteers, they’ve collected over $80,000 in cash donations and they have racked up over 1500 volunteer hours.  The good news is: they do all the planning! (If interested, we can help with this, too.  They have a monthly planning meeting and all interested persons are invited to attend).  All we have to do is decide which of their projects we want to help out with, and then show up with helpful hands!
